How to Choose the Best High Heel for You 👠🔥
While we cannot condone the frequent wearing of them, we can help you choose the best heel to prevent pain and injury. 😘
✅ Quality over quantity. Good high heels come with a price tag - don't cheap out just so you can buy more bad shoes later. You don’t need to be Carrie Bradshaw to buy nice shoes. Maybe just don’t buy as many. 🤣
✅Brand sizing and width is all over the map sometimes. You may find that some brands are just made for your feet, while others are not. Shop around! Find a style that fits your foot comfortably and select 2 or 3 classic pieces that are unique enough to suit your individuality but versatile enough to build multiple outfits around.
✅ When selecting your high heel, ensure that it fits perfectly. It must have a wide enough toe box that your toes are not pinched. Tip! Open toed shoes can help relieve some of this pressure.
✅The shoe should be well-fitting and secured to the foot at the heel. A shoe that is too big can cause blisters, slipping, and discomfort. A shoe that is too small is extremely painful to wear and can cause long-term foot injury.
✅ When shopping, the shame game can ride the bench. Don’t rush into a bad purchase! Try the shoes on and wear them around walking for several minutes - if there is even slight discomfort, imagine them after 6 hours. They are not the right shoe for you.
✅ Try to avoid itty bitty, skinny stilettos. A chunky heel is far more stable and less susceptible to breaking off or wobbling into sudden ankle rolls.
✅ Be aware of (and try to avoid) heels with very high slope (also known as pitch). This is detrimental to biomechanical stability and can also damage the structures in the foot and ankle. If you absolutely must have a shoe that makes you 6 inches taller, consider a platform or wedge option, where the toes are also elevated off the ground, reducing the slope of the shoe.
✅Padding, padding, padding. Providing cushion to the areas of the foot that are under the most pressure within the shoe can make a world of difference. You may need to go up half a size to do this and maintain proper fit.
Happy shopping! 👠❤️
